WORDS

Project for Sónar 2017.

A dream-like installation that captures what users say and becomes a time capsule of sorts.

With a team of three and several consultants, we were able to take another piece for the second year in a row to Sónar, a massive EDM and technology festival in Barcelona.

The central object, named 'Tesseract', was the cornerstone of the process. A hypercube of over 500 pounds powered on just Arduino and lot of ingenuity.

This was an extraordinary chance to gather user feedback by the thousands, meaning that every member of the team was presenting the project around a couple hundred times a day.

Proton

Project for CBI Mediterranean (CERN).

A full-service Virtual Reality solution for rehabilitation hospitals that allows them to offer VR-based entertainment and care to their patients.

Alongside partners from various universities and colleges, I participated in the 2016 edition of the CBI Mediterranean Challenge, a project that takes place mainly in CERN Headquarters. My team had the delicate topic of returning traffic accident victims that suffered psychological injuries to working life.

I was one of the two members to give the keynote for the project. The audience was mainly CERN members and investors. The full 24-minute pitch is here.

McCann

Client: ALDI Supermarkets.

For 12 months I was a full-time intern in McCann Barcelona, in a site called TheBackroom. This was a division that handled only one client; ALDI Supermarkets. An office of about 50 employees handled all the media in Spanish territories.

I assisted Art Directors, all levels. Also worked with all other departments; Sales, Marketing, Communication, Digital, Post and Print. I took part in several campaigns, sometimes with the freedom of overseeing entire processes, particularly in BTL projects.

In my spell there, I produced over 250 illustrations, 2 weekly catalogs, and about 300 social media adaptations, with more than 1000 hours spent on site.

Virtually every output had a featured product or several, making for a very motivating challenge every time creativity was met with legal footnotes and price tags.

Yulia

Project for Sónar 2016.

With a team of 3 designers, we created Yulia, an Android App that turns smartphones into a massive, collaborative speaker.

There were two main aspects to develop; the App itself and a physical amplifier. On top of that, the communication strategy.

As it was going to be in the development site of Sónar, we had to create an identity and outputs for potential investors and users to grasp what the project was about.

Ideated initially as a DJ software, it changed into a motor that would then be applicable into markets other than music creation, like tourism and education.

How Yulia works.

A story-telling based video with Yulia as the motif.

CERN's Publishing Platform

Project for CERN.

In early 2016, the publishing department of CERN approached IED Barcelona with the idea of revamping their whole system, and they asked for team of designers to pursue this goal. I was one of the 3 students that took on this task.

With such a compact team, we had to be in constant contact with CERN programmers and staff. After a few weeks of ideation and implementation, the pitch was made to the publishing division and the project was accepted.

We also had the tutoring of R2 Media Factory, a Barcelona-based studio, in order to make a system that is able to seamlessly adopt 5 decades of content into a clean and simple interface.

The biggest challenge we faced was understanding how several departments had organised the files and papers, as to make their search as intuitive and effective as possible.

For the 2015 edition of GREC Festival, Barcelona's trademark cultural events celebration, and Sala Beckett, a renowned local theatre, presented IED Barcelona a contest for the poster of the play Penso en Yu, an adaptation in Catalan of the homonymous french play.

Three proposals were showcased, two went onto the final selection, and one of the was featured in the permanent exhibition of IED Barcelona.

The piece had a lot of coverage, being used in several temporary exhibitions and websites.

Saruboy

Client: LINE (NHN Japan).

Japan's popular messaging app, LINE, and it's Spanish division, approached IED Barcelona with an open contest. The participants had to create a set of 16 'stickers', featuring an original character.

The amicable and carefree looks of the character were fundamental when placing him in regular situations.

I created Saruboy, a monkey with humane characteristics. After just one meeting with the mediterranean representatives of LINE, we had to create the final 16 images. I went with the relatable route, showcasing the little guy doing mundane everyday things.

I was one of the finalists, and the set went for sale on the official LINE Sticker Store at the beginning of 2015.

The grid used was extremely ample, as much content is not only text but graphs and elements showcasing short and medium-term processes.
